Halo
Halo is a bilingual, illustrated book for adults and children imagined by me, Digi Chivetta. Halo is the story of a boy named Mark who perishes in a fire and awakens in the Land of Candy. Mark then has to pass three tests to reach the afterlife. At its core, Halo is a story of hope and compassion, described as Greek mythology meets Candyland meets Alice in Wonderland by readers, once you start this book you won't be able to put it down until the end.
I originally wrote this story when I was 10 years old for a class project. I was shocked at how sophisticated the story was when I re-read it 20 years later. I edited the story, keeping it as close to original as possible, and reimagined all of the illustrations. I pulled inspiration for the artwork from the two worlds I lived between, Italy and the United States. I felt that publishing this story was important because I could show the innate wisdom that we all possess as children; often, we lose our childlike view of the world as we get older.
I hope that this book brings the magic and wisdom of childhood to readers of all ages.
